I find my tyres noisy...

I find the tyres on Kadjar S Nav 1.6 4WD, distressingly noisy. (19" Conti Sport). I drive in 2WD most of the time, Any thoughts?

Our answer:

Hi James,

Different tyres have different noise characteristics, so swapping them out for another brand might help, but it’s an expensive way to fix a small issue. To be honest, a lot of cars we test these days seem to have excessive tyre noise, much of which is down to the harder low-rolling-resistance compounds used in the rubber to help save fuel and firmer suspension bushings to help reduce unwanted body movements. Also, you have quite large wheels fitted, which means relatively low profile tyres. These often come with stiffer sidewalls, leading to more road noise.
