I am looking to buy my first car...

Ask a Question here: hi im looking to buy my first car. just wondering in terms of mileage is there a certain number that it shouldn't go over as i don't know much about cars be much appreciated.

Our answer:

Hi Melissa,

Well, there’s no specific number to avoid, but ideally a lower-mileage car would be better for a first-time driver, as knowing it should be reliable will take away one of the stresses of motoring, allowing you to concentrate on more important matters. Unless your budget is very tight, try and pick a car that’s no older than ten years old and aim to get the mileage below 160,000km – or 100,000 miles, if you can. A used 2013 or 2014 Ford Fiesta might be a very good place to start looking…
