Hi, I am looking to buy a used to car. My preferred choice is a Saloon/family hatchback. My commutation is mainly to office and some outings on weekends. Budget - 15,000 Mileage - I would prefer as less as possible. I am not able to make my mind on what should i prefer? Low Mileage or Recent model? or combination of both. What is the recent year for the car i should go for depending on my car budget and my preferred choice of vehicle? How much does mileage & car year effect the car performance?
Hi Rahul,
For €15,000, you should be able to get a decent family saloon or hatchback with modest mileage (60,000-100,000km), and they won’t be too old – maybe dating back to 2012, at the oldest, although don’t expect a lot of 171, 172, 181 or 182-plate cars for your money. Generally, the older and higher mileage a car is showing, the less of its original factory performance it will have, but this is not a hard and fast rule and, even in the instances of cars that have lost power, it will be a negligible amount that won’t be noticeable in daily driving – unless there’s something seriously wrong with the car in question, that is. Good luck with your search!
