Hi I am thinking of changing my car. I am considering buying a Honda Civic 2.2 diesel, maybe around 2009 or 2010. I currently drive a Skoda Fabia 1.4 diesel and do about 550 (mostly motorway) miles a week. Would the Civic be much harder on diesel seeing as it's a 2.2 or would the bigger engine be better at higher speeds on the motorway? Thanks so much for your help!
Hi Owen,
A 2.2 Civic should average above 50mpg in daily driving - how does that compare with what you get from your current Fabia? On paper, the Skoda should be much more economical, but, as you point out, a smaller engine sometimes struggles a little on longer journeys. The Civic's a lovely car, either way though. Hugely reliable, comfy, spacious cabin and a huge boot. One of my favourites.
