Thinking of upgrading my car. I drive diesel as i commute 4 days a week cavan to dublin. Was looking at a hybrid but would i be better sticking with diesel
Hi Olivia,
Yes, you’d be better off with diesel. Try and get the most modern car you can – look for ‘Euro 6 compliant’ or ‘EU6’ in the adverts – and you should avoid any near-future tax levies on diesels as a result of recent investigations into NOx gases. You’re doing 240km every single day, so no plug-in hybrid nor electric car is going to make much sense for you, given the expense and the charging times you’d have to commit to each day (at your office) and night (at home). A good, low-powered diesel will be much more economical and comfortable to run over 960 weekly kilometres.
