What type of service is due on my volvo S40, 09 plate, 75k miles, do I need my timing belt changing?
Hi Colin,
You've not told us the engine, which is quite important, so I'm going to assume it's a 1.6 diesel. The timing belt doesn't need to be changed until the car is either 10 years old or you've covered 240,000 kilometres so that should be fine for a while.
With regards to regular servicing, the 1.6 diesel S40 should be done every year at least or every 20,000km. Assuming your car has had its first five services already, it's now time for the 120,000km one. That includes the usual list of items such as checking lights, wipers, fluid levels and brakes condition and amending as needs be. The oil and oil filter must be changed and an important one that might be missed by some garages is replacing the pollen filter in the cabin. They can get disgusting and smelly if not done.
Hope that helps
