It can be difficult, but the best places to check are underneath (prepare to get mucky), around the front suspension points under the bonnet and under the carpet in the boot. Check for panels that appear to be wavy or bent when they should be straight, or for obvious signs of resprayed paint, such as paint where it shouldn’t be. Generally speaking, a small and well-repaired knock shouldn’t be a major issue, but if the seller isn’t telling you about it up front, then they could be hiding lots of other things so it’s best to walk away.
