Generally speaking, if you’re buying from a reputable dealer, a car should be finance-free at the time of purchase and you should, of course, ask about that when inspecting the car initially. If you want to be really sure, then run a history and background check with the likes of Cartell.ie, which should flag up any unpaid finance.
