There’s a whole process to be gone through to import a car into the country, and it’s best if you start looking at Revenue’s website (https://www.revenue.ie/en/importing-vehicles-duty-free-allowances/guide-to-vrt/vehicle-registration-tax/index.aspx) for the full info. It doesn’t, I’m afraid to tell you, matter what you think the car is worth, as it’s calculated on what Revenue reckons it’s worth in the Irish market. Assuming your Merc is a 2011 car, a very, very rough calculation would give a VRT price of around €2,900, but there’s a lot of variables in that.
