How to get VRT and OMSP ahead of time?
I'm interested in bringing in a crewcab van from the UK. I want to check the VRT beforehand however on occasion the vehicles I look up are not shown in the VRT calculator on revenue website. Is there another way to check VRT or also find the OSMP (which vrt rate is calculated on)? Often the van may not have a reg displayed so using cartell or motorcheck are not always options either. Surely Revenue has another route for checking this?

Hi Darragh,
It's infuriating, we know, but there really is no way to accurately get the OMSP and VRT that'll be required on a vehicle before you present it for inspection here in Ireland. Even the models that Revenue has in its system already should only be considered to be an indication, as values change and the calculation also takes into consideration condition and optional extras fitted.
The best thing you can do is find as many similar vehicles on sale in Ireland to the one you are considering buying and take an estimate based on that.
