There is a national database of vehicle mileage called the National Mileage Register, which is operated by Cartell.ie and that can tell you, possibly, the most recent recorded mileage for your car. 

 

If the car you're looking at isn't on the register then check the NCT certificate. The three most recent odometer readings taken at each NCT will be printed on it.
