If it's the newer shape Astra launched in 2015, then all engines have timing chains as far as I am aware. Some of those in the earlier model do too, though the 1.6 petrol engine has a timing belt and it should be changed at least every 150,000km or six years - whichever comes first. Same for the 1.7 diesel. Some of the other engines in the earlier Astra have timing belts too so come back to us with full details if you want us to look it up for you.
