it would depend on the car and its CO2 emissions. It doesn’t really mater what you’ve paid for it, as the VRT calculation is done on the basis of the car’s emissions (in rates that follow the motor tax bands, starting at 14 per cent for the lowest) and the Open Market Selling Price, or in other words what Revenue decides is the average Irish market selling price for that make and model.
