That's not a very easy one to estimate as the value of the car in Revenue's eyes will depend massively on how badly damaged it is and how much it might cost to repair it. We can't hope to guess at the figure Revenue will come up with, but for the sake of these calculations, let's assume it's €30,000.

The CO2 rating for that car was 158g/km, but Revenue will 'uplift' that NEDC figure to an equivalent WLTP figure of 193g/km, which means a VRT rate of 41 per cent. That would mean a VRT bill (based on a value of €30,000) of €12,300. And don't forget the NOx levy, which will be quite hefty for that car.
