How much VRT importing this Panamera?

Hi. I'm looking at importing a January 2013 Porsche Panamera diesel Platinum Edition with 95000 miles from Northern Ireland. I'm wondering what VRT I can expect to pay? V5 emissions figures state NOx 0.014 g/km. I don't see a Co2 figure on it. Thanks for your help!

Our answer:

Hi Emmett,

Our data suggests an NEDC CO2 rating of 172g/km. Revenue will 'uplift' that to a WLTP-equivalent value of 290g/km if you don't have proof of the WLTP rating.

If you're importing and registering it before the end of 2021, the VRT rate will therefore be 37 per cent. That will jump to 41 per cent on Jan 1, 2022.

Revenue will apply that to what it calls the Open Market Selling Price of the car in Ireland. That is very difficult to guess, especially for a niche car such as the Panamera. If, for example, Revenue suggested it was worth €40,000, then your VRT bill to the end of 2021 would be €14,800. That would jump to €16,400 in January.

The NOx levy is separate to VRT and it will be a lot less than the VRT in most cases. The NOx value you supplied seems way too low to be realistic to be honest.
