Hi I'm buying a English reg car that's in nothern ireland since November last year the car costs 4000 stg how much duty will i have to pay to bring it into the republic of Ireland?
Hi Brendan,
If the car has been in the North since November, and there's proof that it was imported there properly and used by a private individual, then you shouldn't have any VAT or import duty to pay, just VRT and the NOx levy.
If import duty is due, it's 10 per cent of the "customs value" of the car, which is simply the price you paid for the car plus transport costs.
