The Mercedes CLC 200 CDI used a detuned version of the 2.1-litre diesel engine that was also used in the more powerful CLC 250 CDI, and the 200 was said to emit 147g/km of CO2. Luckily, CLC production started in 2008, by which time our tax laws had changed from going on engine capacity to CO2 emissions, so the car in question will cost you €390 per annum to tax, as it sits in Band C.
