How much for unused Xsara Picasso?

How much could I expect for a 2006 Citroen Picasso Xsara 1.6 petrol 1.6L that has been off the road since 2013 and is sitting in my drive since then, not driven? Mileage is around 40,000 Kilometres . I'd have to recharge the battery to get the exact mileage but am not even sure the battery isn't dead by now. We got it with 24k on it and it was really only driven for about a year and would have accrued max 6-7k in that time so 40k is probably overstating the mileage.Would 1000 euros be unreasonable? I'm not expecting a lot for it but don't want to let it go for a song either.

Our answer:

Hi Myles,

It’s a tough one to value, because normally a good 2006 Xsara Picasso should be worth in and around €1,500 to €1,750, but the problem is the off-the-road bit. For a start, unless you properly declared it off the road, you might be liable to a motor tax penalty and a bill, and secondly, many buyers will be suspicious of any car that’s been off the road for a while, and four years is a long time. If you can get it going, get it serviced and get it through an NCT, then you might get €1,500 for it. Otherwise, you’re probably looking at as little as €300 as it stands.
