According to Cartell.ie the average mileage for a diesel-engined car is around 14,000km whereas the average mileage for a petrol-engined car is much lower, at just under 10,000km. That probably reflects the fact that petrol engined cars are predominantly smaller models, usually driven more in town over shorter distances.
