How long would I get out of a BMW 520d?
I was thinking of getting a 2009 BMW 520d, what would you consider as high mileage and what max mileage would you expect to get before major failures, this is assuming regular maintenance. I thinking how many years will I get out of the car before running costs start to rise.

That’s a tough one, but I think if you were to buy the best possible 520d from 2009 that you can find, and keep it serviced with a main BMW dealer (their rates are actually not as pricey as you might think, and worth it in the long run) then the sky is pretty much the limit. Find the best, lowest mileage one you can, keep it looked after and you could potentially easily stretch one beyond the 500,000km mark. It’s far more about the care a car gets than the life of individual components.
