The short answer is ‘indefinitely’. It could theoretically go on forever, as some cars are known to do, but at the same time you might be unlucky and not get too many more miles out of it. When it comes to buying high-mileage cars like this, a lot of it is ‘gut feel’; does it look in good condition? Has it got reams of paperwork with it, showing the car’s upkeep throughout the years? Is it priced accordingly for its mileage?

If you can answer these questions to your satisfaction, the Focus should give you a few good years of service yet.
