Hi I was looking at a08 Audi A3 and it has 280000km on it. How important it high mileage. I know this is double the average mileage. My last car was a 07 Astra and it had 110000 km fairly low Mileage but the clutch, gear box and turbo all went on the space of a year. Does mileage really matter nowadays! Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks Keith
Hi Keith,
No, mileage doesn’t and has never really mattered. What matters is history, condition and care. If the Audi you’re looking at has a nice, thick set of stamps and receipts in the service book and is obviously well cared for, then it’s more likely to last than a badly-cared-for car with half the mileage. It’s all about maintenance really, and if the previous owner has maintained the car fastidiously and driven mostly motorway miles (as high mileage suggests) then it’s probably fine.
