Hi there, I'm looking at a 2002 Toyota Avensis Terra, 1.6. Mileage is 130,000, car seems in great nick and I trust the seller, though will also do a history check. I'm wondering about fuel consumption for this model. I do a lot of long journeys, motorways but also some smaller roads. Not a huge amount of city driving. (Currently driving a smaller 1.3-litre car, don't have massive petrol costs).
Thank you!
Hi Sheila,
Generally speaking a small petrol engine in a big heavy car equals horrendous fuel consumption. Now, a lot of that can be down to driving style and so on but the good news is that the old Avensis 1.6 was always one of the better ones when it came to fuel burn. You're not going to be getting diesel-like figures, but the official economy rating was 40mpg so you should be able to get 35mpg pretty regularly.
