Official figures from when that car was new suggest about 60mpg, but those would have been quite optimistic unless you were cruising on the motorway at quite a low speed. And obviously, any car's economy is dependent on where and how you drive it, not to mention how well-maintained the engine is.

We'd expect better than 40mpg on the open road and motorway in this car today.
