Hi, I'm looking at a 2011 Ford Kuga with 52K miles on the clock. Seem in good order. Anything I should be wary of? It's a private sale so I'm not entirely comfortable. Also, NCT expires this month. I'm going to see it this week.
Any help, thanks
Matteo
Hi Matteo,
A pretty solid choice, reliability wise. The only recurrent problems on Kugas seem to be a diesel particulate filter that's prone to clogging. A good run on the motorway should clear it out but if it persists it can be an expensive job to fix. They can suffer from a stiff brake pedal action too, which can lead to longer stopping distances. Should have been fixed as part of a recall but make sure the one you're looking at has been checked.
As ever when buying private though, insist on a full service history and get a independent history and finance check with the likes of Cartell.ie.
