what is the criteria for bringing in a used mercedes from uk. 06 reg
Hi Steve,
It's not the most straightforward process, but basically what you need to do is: within seven days of the car's arrival here you need to book an inspection date at your local NCT centre. The car will there be assessed for its Open Market Selling Price (OMSP - essentially what Revenue reckons its Irish value is) and you'll have 30 days from the date of arrival to pay the Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT), which will be calculated as a percentage of the OMSP according to the car's CO2 emissions. If the car is over four years old it will also have to go through an NCT.
