How do I get insurance on these cars?
Hi, I currently have a 2008 Lexus RX400h and I am having difficulty getting an insurance quote to upgrade to a 2013 RX450h or a 2011 Range Rover. I am 27 and any insurer I have tried won't cover me due to the engine sizes as they are 3.5 and 3.6 litres respectively. My current car is a 3.3 litre. Any suggestions? Thanks

Welcome to the world of Irish car insurance, where statistics are bent all out of shape and common sense does not apply. We feel your pain… OK, there are a few things you can do here. If you’re set on either an RX 450h or a 3.6 V8 Range Rover then track yourself down a good insurance broker who may be able to access deals not available to mere mortals like us. Or, you could simply find a Range Rover with a 3.0-litre diesel engine instead, which should present no problems as you’ll actually be coming down by 300cc.
