How best to sell my Audi A6?

Hello. I want to sell my Audi A6, (II) 2014, NCT available until 2020. Diesel. Good condition. But with oustanding finance. I still have to pay for 4 years until I get rid of the credit. I don't know what the value of my car would be, because of the finance issue. I hope you can give me an answer back regarding this matter. Thank you.

Our answer:

Hi Paula,

We’ll assume you’ve gone with the majority and got a 2.0-litre TDI A6, rather than the rarer 3.0 TDI; if not, values of the latter from that year are around €23,000-€28,000, depending on mileage. The 2.0 TDI A6s start at €17,000, for cars that have done more than 160,000km or which are low-specification, rising to about €25,000 for the lower mileage, higher-specification models.

Now, that’s market value for 2014 Audi A6s. What you don’t specify is what type of finance you took out – did you pay PCP with a main Audi dealer, or are you on a lease contract, or did you simply take out a personal loan to buy the car in the first place? There are ways of ending a PCP early without losing too much money, but in the other instances, you’re probably going to end up out of pocket by selling the car/handing it back and then having to service what remains of the outstanding finance. The best situation, unless the Audi has become unnecessary for your needs, is to stick with the car for a few more years yet.

One final note, if you did take out a PCP or hire purchase agreement, you technically are not allowed to sell the car until the end of the agreement. Check your loan paperwork.
