The current Volkswagen Golf R, even in its earlier, pre-facelift guise with 300hp, is a superb machine – a really cultured all-rounder that does so many things brilliantly well. They’re incredibly popular vehicles, considering their new price and running costs, and that means that – on occasion – owners will indeed use them well. Having done 160,000km is not a major concern for one of these cars, but do make sure its service history is impeccable and also make sure you’re paying lower market value for it, given the mileage.
