I have a 181 Mazda6 2.2L Diesel, approaching 75,000Km. I have heard that this Mazda 6 model is very prone to serious head gasket issues at high mileage. Is this correct and if yes, can anything be done to prevent this type of issue? Thanks
Hi there,
Well, we have heard tales of Mazda SkyActiv-D 2.2-litre head gasket failures, but they’re normally on older models with higher mileage. However, if you’re worried about it, you’ve got a simple fix – as a 181 car with 75,000km on the clock, you’re well within the Mazda three-year, 100,000km warranty period. Get your local main dealer to check it out. Admittedly, you might not be able to have the gasket replaced free-of-charge unless your car is displaying any symptoms of failure already, but certainly go to a good Mazda garage to put your mind at rest.
