Hi Shane. Thank you for the response on the VVT solenoid. I drove the car the evening and stopped at home. No loss of power or noises was experienced. Next morning it would not start. Battery is ok. Spark is ok. Fuel feed is ok. With the inlet manofold off the valve stems can be seen operating and they seems ok. There was also no indication of the engine overheating whilst driving. The turbo was blown and we replaced it four days prior to this problem. We cleaned a lot of oil from the inlet manifold and the airpipes whilst replacig the turbo and I am now thinking maybe the valves are carboned up. For the valves to bent the timing chain would have to break or jump teeth. Or am I wrong in my understanding? Regards Danny
Hi Danny,
Bent valves can be caused by slipped/broken chain/belt for sure, but an over-revved engine can do it, too.
However, it's logical in this case that the issue is related to your blown turbo. Perhaps the valves and seats have a lot of deposits on them. I assume you didn't mean 'zero' compression, but just very low.
