If you’re talking about the overall mileage of the car (kilometres covered), then it is a potentially infinite number – vehicles can go on indefinitely with the right maintenance and care. If you’re talking about fuel mileage, the 1.6-litre HDi Peugeot 308 could do around 68.9mpg, officially, although the 1.6 has now been replaced with a newer 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.6-litre petrol models (the GT and the GTi) deliver more like 47-48mpg.
