Are second hand electric vehicles holding value better than Hybrids?
Hi Kevin,
It’s a bit tricky to tell, simply because the market is in so much flux. In general, I think the safest advice is that a hybrid will hold its value rather better than a pure-electric car, for the moment. Electric sales are heavily influenced by the ebb and flow of new models, of improvements to batteries and overall one-charge ranges, and to the state of the public charging network. While we have seen something of a firming-up of electric car used values lately, as buyers seek to snap up older models as an affordable ‘second car’ runaround, the fact is that a known quantity, such as a Prius, will do rather better in terms of retained value.
