I am just about to buy a 2014 Skoda Octavia 1.4TSi DSG Automatic Elegance hatchback with 31000 miles on the clock. Do I need the car dealer to change the cam belt, or does it have a chain that will last longer? Thanks Dated: July 2021
Hi Graham,
That car's engine does indeed have a belt, but it's unlikely to need changing as yet as the mileage is so low. I don't think a dealer would agree to do it in that situation, but it is worth having the belt checked if you buy the car to ensure it looks in good condition.
