Your question is a bit ‘how long is a piece of string?’ The BMW 3 Series has been in production for 44 years across seven generations, so the resale value of any given Three will depend on a huge variety of factors – is it an M version? Is it a classic? Does it have the right engine… and so on. Broadly speaking, new BMW 3 Series models have very strong residual values over the course of three years, which is why the company can offer such strong PCP deals on what is, at the end of the day, a fairly expensive car; the less depreciation there is, the less you have to fund on PCP.
