Have just bought a 2015 reg Skoda fabia 1.2tsi with 39000 miles.Does it have a cambelt or chain. If a belt when do I need to change it. I keep getting different advice from different garages!
Hi Graham,
The reason for the confusion is that there was a significant model change for the Fabia in 2014/2015 and the 1.2 TSI engine, which previously used a timing chain, used a timing belt from then on. So, if you have the newer shape Fabia (as in our picture) then it has indeed got a timing belt, otherwise, no.
If your car has a timing belt, it needs to be checked at 240,000km and then every 30,000km thereafter until the mechanic deems it necessary to change.
