Does my Astra 1.6 have a belt or chain?

Does my Astra 1.6 have a belt or chain?

Does my astra 1.6i petrol 2014 have a cambelt or a chain. Also when should it be changed

Our answer:

Hi John,

The regular 1.6 petrol engine of that year in the Astra has a timing belt. It should be changed at least every 150,000km or six years, whichever comes first. There were two other 1.6-litre petrol engines available at the same time. The 179hp 1.6 Turbo also has a belt, and the interval is 150,000km or ten years. Then, the SIDI Turbo (either 170hp or 200hp) has a timing chain, which does not come with a set replacement schedule.
