Does my 2012 Audi A1 have a belt or chain?

Does my 2012 Audi A1 have a belt or chain?

I have a Audi A1 2012 sport back Does it have a timing belt or chain and when should I have it changed Reg SR08 SOR

Our answer:

Hi Sharon,

Using your reg I can see it has a 1.4 TFSI engine. Most of those use timing chains, which do not require scheduled replacement. The only exception is the 1.4 Cylinder-on-Demand (COD) engine, a 140hp unit. That uses a belt, which should be changed at least every 210,000km regardless of time.

I'm afraid we can't tell by the information you've provided if your car has the COD engine or not. We'd need the engine code. Your V5C logbook may have the information needed to identify it as well.
