Does a 191-reg Arona need its belt replacing?

Does a 191-reg Arona need its belt replacing?

Does a 191 reg seat arona (85k km) need to have its timing belt changed? Car operating very good .

Our answer:

Hi John,

The Volkswagen Group is unusual in that, for some of its engines, it doesn't set a replacement schedule for the timing belts. Instead it suggests they need to be inspected after a certain amount of time as they're designed for long life. The Arona 1.0 TSI engine has one of these belts and it apparently doesn't need to be checked until the car has done 300,000km or it is 15 years old.

This strategy does not apply to all engines, however, so if your Arona has a different engine, come back to us with full details and we can give you an answer on it.
