Hi I’m buying a car from a Dealer, its a 2017 car with registered in the north since new(NI Reg), im aware I don’t need to pay customs duty but do I need to pay VAT on the car or how do I prove it’s been in NI since 2017.
Hi Gabriele,
If the car has been in the North since 2017 then neither VAT nor customs duty will be payable. The car's "V5" registration certificate should be enough to prove it. You will of course be liable for VRT and the NOx levy.
