Do I need to change my Audi's timing chain?

For a 2014 audi allroad 3.0 litre diesel 245bhp….Do you know if the timing chain needs to be replaced after certain number of kilometres …I know the timing belt on my 2016 A6 was replaced around 210,000kms but not sure how long the chains last. Many thanks

Our answer:

Hi Tony,

Timing chains don't usually come with a set replacement schedule as they are in theory designed to last the life of the engine. Sometimes they get noisy or stretch and do need replacement, but your mechanic should advise you if that is the case.
