Do I need to change a Polo's belt?
When should the timing belt be changed on 1 litre VW Polo match? There’s conflicting information on this my mechanic says it’s basically a lifetime belt & should be checked after 240 000km VW Germany state the same but VW England say every 5 years or 180 000 km which ever comes first

You've not given us a model year to work with, but for example, the 2014-2018 model's 1.0-litre engine has a timing belt and it does not have a set replacement schedule according to our sources. Different countries can set different schedules, however, especially if they set their own warranty terms, so you need to adhere to whatever the local market has decided is the interval for that reason. Always err on the side of caution with these things, too.
