Do I have to pay tax on my export?
Hi, I am planning to export a car from Irl to France, do I still have to pay the road tax even though the car will only be driven straight to the ferry ? Best, hugo

Hi Hugo,
Technically, yes; a car cannot be legally driven on the road in Ireland without motor tax, or a 'garage plate'. You can claim back a refund of motor tax after the car has been officially exported.
