Do I go for a new E-Class?

Which do I go for, the brand new E220D or the brand new E200, I'm currently driving a 2012 Skoda Superb Elegance 1.6 Diesel, Russo Brunelli coloured. I took a test-drive last Thursday in a 2016 E220D, Non Metallic Black, Cream leather upholstery and was instantly smitten, my only dissatisfaction was the lack of space in the rear, I'm only 5ft 6 and had my front seat exactly where I wanted it, the space in my Superb is like limousine standard, What to do???

Our answer:

Hi Warren,

We haven't yet driven the new E 200, only the E 220, but were roundly impressed with it - smooth, swift, secure and more than a little entertaining to drive. Handsome too.

However, you're right about the rear seat space - it's well and truly smaller than the old Superb.

So, you have a couple of options. 1, accept the slightly smaller rear seats. 2, buy instead a nearly-new old shape E-Class, which is almost as swish to drive. Or, 3, have a look at the new Skoda Superb. You'll save yourself around €15-20k on the purchase price and get an utterly fantastic car that still has masses of legroom in the back...
