Hi I have a seat Ibiza 1.6 sport 2008 petrol. A friend suggested I should get the timing chain changed , I thought it was a timing belt? Could you clarify this please. Also is it a big expensive job?
Hi Lewis,
That car's engine does indeed have a timing chain, but timing chains do not have scheduled change intervals. They are designed for the life of the engine, unlike timing belts. It's also a much bigger and more expensive job to change a timing chain. It's not necessary unless there are signs of a problem with the chain.
