Hi, Do you need to be doing big mileage every week to run a diesel car beneficially? Would it cause damage if not enough mileage (filter)
Hi Aine,
Generally speaking, yes. It’s not just the filter (which can usually be kept clear with a good run down the motorway once every couple of weeks), it’s the cost of the car — diesel cars are usually significantly more expensive to buy than petrol ones and it can take a long time, and a lot of miles, to claw that back in fuel savings. If you’re a low-mileage driver, petrol just makes a lot more sense.
