Hi, I am thinking of changing my Toyota Corolla 04 for a upgrade in years. Was thinking of going diesel as the road tax would be cheaper than my Toyota, I roughly drive the car 8,000-10,000 miles a year. What do you think I should do? Road tax the main reason for changing plus I want a upgrade in years as value of my Toyota is decreasing every year.
Hi John,
You're not doing enough mileage for diesel in my opinion. Have a look instead at a downsized turbocharged petrol model, such as the Volkswagen Golf 1.2 TSI, the Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost or the Toyota Auris 1.2 D4-T. Those will get you the lower tax you crave but the running costs and up front price will be much lower than for a diesel.
