It would be very unusual, although certainly not impossible, for a Golf to be exported to Japan and then re-imported here. Have you done a history check on the car with Cartell.ie? Or even just looked at the paperwork that comes with it? If it was originally sent to Japan, then it should be pretty obvious as things like the tyre pressure numbers plate inside the door will be stamped in Japanese writing. You could of course just check with the current owner, and if they’re in any way evasive about it, move on – there are plenty more Golfs out there to choose from.
