Your importation costs should be low if you can prove you've both lived at your UK address and insured and taxed the vehicle there for at least six months. The re-registration fee is quite low. It might be worth investigating insurance before you take the plunge, however, as that could be a stumbling block. Irish motor insurers don't like vehicles that are over 10 years old and they don't like large-capacity engines.
