what is the cost of changing the wet belt when it snapped while driving on a 2010 mondeo 1.8 diesel tks
Hi Tony,
It is our understanding that there is usually other internal engine damage when this belt snaps on this Mondeo so a compression check will have to be carried out on all cylinders first to determine the extent of this. If the cylinder head has to come off to repair the damage then it could be a very costly affair and the bill will depend on what exactly is damaged - bent valves are the most common issue, but there can be far more expensive damage, too.
If you've been lucky and all that needs to be changed is the timing belt itself, then the estimate labour time is 3-4 hours and obviously the cost of that will vary from garage to garage. It's advisable to replace the belt and tensioner and, again, the price varies from a Ford dealer to an independent motor factor.
